Glass Curtain Walling
Glass curtain walling and glass curtain glazing are both lightweight aluminum-framed facades that house either glass or metal panels. At Bracknell Glazing we supply, install and undertake a comprehensive range of remedial works. Curtain walling is often part of a building envelope or is part of wall system compositions. Each glazing system requires careful integration with the other adjacent structural elements such as wall claddings, roofs, and walls. We can work on internal and external glass walling projects. Our glass walling systems are highly adaptable and enhance your building with practical and aesthetic benefits.
Our facades are customisable, they look great whilst providing efficient energy efficiencies, drainage and ventilation solutions. Over the years we have installed glass walling solutions at some of the UK’s iconic and prestigious buildings.
Remedial and refurbishments to glass walling is a cost effective alternative to full replacement of glass wall curtains. Aluminium framed glass wall systems are a feature of modern architecture which date back to the 1930’s. These systems were accelerated by the availability of inexpensive aluminum following Word War II, which led to widespread popularity and adoption. Aged walling systems are susceptible to whole host of reasons that render them in need of remedial repair. Typical issues surrounding remedial glazing repairs include defective and loose gaskets, cracked window, blown units, water ingress, damaged fixings and poorly performing spandrel (the almost triangular space between one side of the outer curve of an arch, a wall, and the ceiling or framework; the space between the shoulders of adjoining arches and the ceilings) panels. When left unattended, these can manifest and become a health and safety hazard for staff, visitors and customers.
Glass curtain walls are not exclusive to commercial applications. They also provide structural walling solutions for residential properties
